KUCHING: The government will ensure that the Pan Borneo Highway (PBH) project is to be completed within the stipulated time.
Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas did not deny at the moment, all projects are facing problems but the projects are clearly deemed beneficial in terms of travel time.
However, he said, the government was working to ensure that the project would be fully completed.
“All projects have problems but when I drove to Betong from Kuching, it took an hour and 10 minutes to reach Lachau; the journey was very smooth.
“Of course, there are problems in Sarikei and Miri but we are trying to solve them,” he told the media after visiting the Mile 7 flyover, Kuching-Serian Section WPC02 of the Pan Borneo Highway Project, here yesterday.
In fact, he said, overall, Pan Borneo has changed the travel time from Lundu to Miri.
He said this when asked to comment about the statement made by Dayak National Congress (NDC) President Paul Raja on the current state of the Pan Borneo Highway project.
According to Paul, the government should make the project a priority for completion.
He said the construction of the highway, which is the main link between big cities, is very slow.
Paul added that despite the minister’s announcement on the percentage of project completion, it caused inconvenience to road users.
He also said all the announcements made the people suffer because they showed no determination to speed up the project.
