KUCHING: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) – which has formed a tripartite alliance with Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PBS) and Parti Bansa Bumiputera Dayak Baru (PBDSB) – has always been consistent in its objective to restore Sarawak’s rights, said PBK president Voon Lee Shan.
He claimed that an assessment by his party in the last few days “indicated a possible vote swing in support of PBK” in areas like Batu Kitang, Kota Sentosa, Batu Kawa, Padungan and Pending.
“The voters understands PBK’s mission and vision.
“What they want now is to see Sarawak demand greater autonomy from the federation of Malaysia. They want PBK to bring the message to parliament,” he told a press conference here today.
He said if PBK had a representative in parliament after the 15th general election (GE15), the party would play a role as a ghostbuster by proposing a private member’s bill or a private motion to seek greater autonomy for Sabah and Sarawak.
“A motion once filed by an MP, allows the motion to be debated and a vote taken to determine the issue stated in the motion.
“Once the bill is debated and a vote is taken in respect of the motion, it allows us and members of the public to determine who support the motion and who are against it,” he added.
Voon’s PBK is fielding candidates in four seats, namely in Mas Gading, Kuching, Stampin and Lanang.
Except in Mas Gading where the party will use its own logo, its candidates in the other three seats will use the (PSB) symbol.
