KUCHING: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) hopes that newly minted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will honor his promises and restore the rights and status that Sarawak is entitled to without further delay.
Its president Voon Lee Shan also hoped that the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state government would be able to work well with the federal government to fulfill the aspirations of Sarawakians to see Sarawak develop on par with Malaya.
“I urge the prime minister to look into the vast discrepancies in the development of infrastructure between Sarawak and Malaya. It is high time that Sarawak be given the focus in development to uplift our people out from poverty and to narrow the development gap between Malaya and Borneo states of Sabah and Sarawak.
“The current federal government must place our development as the top priority in its agenda and there should be no excuse for being unable to do so in view that GPS and Pakatan Harapan (PH) will both be in the cabinet together,” he said in a statement today.
Voon also hoped the federal and state governments would work together to refurbish and repair all 600 dilapidated schools with proper electricity and treated water as well as to allow easy access of education to Sarawak children.
