KUCHING: PC Image Sdn Bhd and Sarawak Esports Association (SESA) have entered into a three-year partnership to collaborate on various initiatives aimed at promoting and developing the esports industry in Sarawak.

According to a statement by SESA, a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by SESA president Afiq Fadhli Narawi and PC Image Sdn Bhd director Kong Chee Siong.

Minister for Youth and Sports Hannah Yeoh served as a witness to the MOU signing at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre yesterday (Sept 15).

PC Image, a leading technology and electronics retailer, and SESA, a non-profit organisation committed to fostering esports talent, will work hand-in-hand to boost the local esports ecosystem through events, training programs, and infrastructure development.

Afiq said that the collaboration is a crucial step forward for esports in Sarawak, as with PC Image’s backing, they are confident that the state’s esports scene will reach new heights and provide more opportunities for the local talents to shine.

Meanwhile, Kong said that by partnering with SESA, they aim to contribute to the long-term growth and sustainability of esports in Sarawak, while also fostering a vibrant community of gamers.

“Key objectives of the partnership include the establishment of a state-of-the-art Esports Hub in Sarawak, which will serve as a central facility for training, tournaments, and technological innovation.

“The project will aim to secure support and funding from the state government of Sarawak, with the goal of making the state a regional leader in the esports industry.

“PC Image will also provide essential gaming equipment and technical support for SESA’s events and training programmes, which include hosting tournaments and conducting workshops to nurture local talent,” SESA said.

In addition, the collaboration will introduce brand ambassadors, joint marketing campaigns, and research into emerging trends in esports.
