SIBU: Recipients of aid in the Dudong constituency are advised to use the funds responsibly and honestly.
Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Dudong chairman Datuk Teo Boon Siew said recipients should be honest in handling the aid, as any donation not used for the intended purpose could lead to investigations and issues during audits of elected representatives.
“For example, if a grant is allocated for building a fence but the recipient uses it for other purposes, it could be considered misuse of funds.
“In the end, the elected representatives themselves will be investigated because every allocation disbursed will be audited at the end of each year,” he said.
He said this in his speech during a brief ceremony to hand over a public address (PA) system to eight recipients in the Dudong constituency at the PDP Dudong service centre here yesterday (May 3).
The recipients consist of four longhouse JKKKs, three schools and an association.
Meanwhile, on the PA system, Teo said that it was a personal contribution from Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing for the needs of the people.
“Like allocation contributions, the provision of this PA System should be utilised by all communities under the respective organisation.
“This donation does not belong to one person but rather everyone under the organisation has the right to use it,” he added.
