KUCHING: Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) is fielding Lidang Disen and Giendam Jonathan Tait – two new faces –in the 15th general election (GE15).
Lidang, 47, will stand in Mas Gading and is seen making his move on the ground, meeting the people and promoting himself.
He is also a qualified civil engineer and a businessman who hails from Kampung Stenggang, Bau and a PDP Tasik Biru exco member.
The Mas Gading parliamentary seat is held by Mordi Bimol from the Democratic Action Party (DAP). Mordi will defend the seat.
Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) is fielding Sim Min Leong for the seat.
Meanwhile, Giendam, 49, will stand in Saratok.
The PDP Krian member expressed his gratitude to Premier and GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for giving him the opportunity to represent Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) in Saratok.
Abang Johari presented the watikah (writs) to all 31 candidates after announcing the candidates at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters, here today.
“I will work hard together with three YBs in the area – Kalaka, Krian and Kabong.
“We will work together in order to recapture Saratok,” he told reporters.
Saratok is held by incumbent Datuk Ali Biju from Bersatu who is defending the seat.
PDP was allocated four seats but won only two in the previous election, with Anyi Ngau winning the Baram seat, and Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing defending the Bintulu seat for the fourth time since winning it in 1999.
