SIBU: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) today organised the Peat Swamp Night Walk at Bukit Lima Nature Reserve (BLNR) in conjunction with World Wildlife Day 2023.

SFC, in a statement, said 30 participants registered to participate in the event which was being organised for the first time as a result of an initiative implemented by the Sibu Regional SFC Office.

“The event was officiated by Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew and his arrival was welcomed by SFC Sibu Regional Manager Mohammad Norazlan Jamil and Head of Human Resource Development and Media Relations Division Japanie Bujang.

“This activity aims to expose the participants to the diversity of fauna species that are active at night or ‘nocturnal creatures’ and foster awareness and knowledge about the importance of protecting and conserving wildlife and its habitat,” said the statement.

It added there were also stalls and booths at Medan Niaga BLNR that sold various types of food and handicrafts to the visitors who visited the place.
