PADAWAN: An elderly man died after being hit by a car while crossing the road at Mile 16, Jalan Kuching-Serian yesterday (May 20).
Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi confirmed the accident happened around 4 pm.
“The collision occurred when a Perodua Viva collided with the victim at the scene. The 83-year-old victim was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.
He added that the 29-year-old driver was detained to assist in the investigations.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
