KUCHING: A total of 500 students in the Kalaka constituency have received school bag donations from the Pekema Sarawak Foundation.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri hopes this will inspire students to be more diligent in attending classes.
“On behalf of all the recipients of the donation, I would like to express our gratitude to the Pekema Sarawak Foundation for selecting children from the Kalaka constituency to receive school bags.
“With the new school bags, we hope it will motivate children to be more eager to go to school and acquire knowledge,” he said during a symbolic handover ceremony at the Kalaka assemblyman’s service centre in Saratok.
He explained that this programme is part of the foundation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative with eligible students referred by the Saratok District Education Office.
“Our intention is to help students or families who truly need school bags.
“So, the list of recipients provided to the foundation has been evaluated by the schools and the District Education Office.
“I hope children and parents are happy. To some extent, it can reduce the burden they bear,” he said.
Deputy Planning Sector Officer of the Saratok Education Office, Alhias Muhie, as well as representatives from Saratok Sixth Form College, Saratok Language Secondary School, Saratok Religious Secondary School, Kalaka Roban Secondary School, Myn Syn Chinese Primary School, Abang Abdul Rahman Primary School, Haji Bollah Kaba Primary School, Kampung Kupang Primary School, Paloh Primary School, Lubok Nibong Primary School, Perpat Primary School, Sungai Entebu Primary School, Sungai Nyiar Primary School, and Sungai Antu Primary School were also present.
