ASAJAYA: The Religious Bureau of the Malaysian Drug Prevention Association (PEMADAM) Sarawak is committed to assist the community in the state through the Ramadan Tour Programme including here.
Asajaya assemblyman Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said that the programme was implemented as an effort to publicise the role of PEMADAM in the society.
“In this programme today (April 8), we also donated 500 bubur lambuk to the people of Asajaya.
“In addition, 490 donations were given to the asnaf group registered with the Social Welfare Department (JKM) in this district,” he said.
He said this after the distribution of the porridge in Jalan Asajaya in conjunction with the 1444H Ramadan Tour Programme of the Religious Bureau of Pemadam at Masjid An-Najah Asajaya, on Saturday.
He added that the programme is also the association’s initiative that is not only implemented in Asajaya but also throughout Sarawak.
“PEMADAM is not an enforcement body but more to give awareness among the community to stay away from drugs, by implementing programmes to villages and schools,” he said.
The ceremony also witnessed the handing over of Hari Raya Aidilfitri donations from the Sarawak Badan Amal Tenaga Isteri-Isteri (SABATI) to the Pertubuhan Pemulihan Dalam Komuniti (PPDK).
“It is a contribution shared to our special children in this area,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the programme also witnessed Abdul Karim distributing bubur lambuk to the people passing through Jalan Asajaya in the mosque compound.
Also held were the Ramadan tazkiran, breaking-of-fast event as well as Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers.
Among those present were Asajaya district officer Rais Ahmat and Abdul Karim’s wife Datin Seri Zuraini Abdul Jabbar.
