THERE are officers at the Petra Jaya Constituency Service Centre who ensure that food aid reaches the people, especially those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Senior Works Minister and Petra Jaya MP Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof gave this assurance during the handover of the food baskets under the National People’s Well-Being and Economic Recovery Package (Pemulih) at Kampung Sungai Bedil yesterday.

He said at the village level, members of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), community leaders, village chiefs, Penghulu, Kapitan and others were involved in getting the details of those in need of assistance.

“This mechanism enables us to identify those who need help.

“However, sometimes there are cases where those in need may be overlooked. However, those who have not received any assistance can always reach out to us anytime,” he said.

Fadillah urged them to contact Petra Jaya Service Centre officer Abdur Rahman Abdul Rahim at 013-2644174 for the Tupong constituency; Morshidi Said at 013-8051971 for the Samariang constituency and Naz Ismadiee Khalit at 016-9247477 for the Satok constituency.

“During this difficult time, we must help the people and assistance must be delivered directly to the target group.

“We are aware that many have lost their jobs and sources of income and we will do our best to help,” he said.

Fadillah also extended his gratitude to the federal government for providing RM300,000 to all MPs to implement the food basket aid programme.

“I also want to thank the Sarawak government for channelling assistance through the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) package,” he said.

He hoped that the various forms of assistance by both the federal and state governments could alleviate the burden of the people, especially the targeted group, in facing the challenges brought by Covid-19.
