SIBU: Three individuals found roaming the streets here during the wee hours of Tuesday were fined RM1,000 for flouting the movement control order (MCO).
Sibu District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit yesterday said the three individuals were a woman and two men aged between 27 and 46.
“All three were found wandering in Jalan Channel at 1.26 this morning (Tuesday).
“They were arrested by the mobile patrol vehicle (MPV) unit on duty to monitor MCO compliance around the town centre.”
ACP Stanley said the trio could not give a reasonable reason for being out and about when questioned.
He added that they were then taken to the Sibu Central Police Station for the issuance of compounds under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations (No 2) 2021.
“The three subjects involved have been given a compound notice of RM1,000 and are required to settle the payment within 14 days from the date of issuance at the Sibu Division Health Office.”
