KUCHING: A kindergarten located in the outskirts of Miri received assistance from a non-governmental organisation (NGO), Hope Place recently.

The NGO has been helping the kindergarten for a few years by supplying milk powder and malt drinks.

“The children will have more nutritional supplements in their diet with supplies given by us. We also gave the kindergarten facemasks, hand sanitisers and soaps,” Hope Place said.

The kindergarten is situated at Long Lamam, Ulu Baram. It is currently taking care of 25 children, aged between two and six years old, all from the Penan tribe.

The preschool was built by a local NGO, Persatuan Perkembangan Pendidikan Orang Pribumi after seeing that the community there lacks schools for young children.

Although small, the kindergarten uses the national curriculum, teaching the children how to speak, read and write.
