MIRI: The Penan community of Long Tujang and Long Buang settlements in Sungai Apoh near here recently donated RM293.60 to the National Covid-19 fund, to help those affected by the pandemic.

Telang Usan assemblyman Dennia Ngau who received the contribution which will be deposited into the National Covid-19 fund at Bank Muamalat, was clearly touched by his constituents’ gestures and thanked the people from the two villages for their kind heartedness.

“Although the amount is relatively small, I know you donated what you could to help support the fight against Covid-19 pandemic, which still spreads like wildfire and threatens the life of humankind,” he said.

Dennis praised the community’s good deeds despite their inconsistent income, saying even the smallest of contributions could make an impact on people in need.

Village chief (TK) Alung Jok of Long Tujang representing the two Penan longhouses told Dennis that the people of their villages wanted to help with whatever they had in order to motivate the frontliners in the fight against Covid-19.
