KUCHING: In an intense battle of skill and strategy, Flesh and Blood TCG Sarawak Buddy Connection’s Road to Nationals 2023 witnessed an impressive display of talent from 17 players hailing from Sarawak and West Malaysia.

The Trading Card Game (TCG) tournament held yesterday (May 27) featured five rounds of Swiss, with the top-performing players advancing to the highly anticipated Top 8 cut.

The field was filled with diverse decks, showcasing the versatility and creativity of the competitors.

“After a gruelling competition, the top 8 contenders emerged, showcasing their exceptional skills and earning their rightful place among the best.

“The final roster included 2 Fai, 2 Lexi, 1 Azalea, 1 Dorinthea, 1 Kano, and 1 Viserai, reflecting a mix of diverse strategies and tactics.

“However, it was Peng Joon who claimed the ultimate victory, leaving a lasting impression on spectators and fellow competitors alike,” said Flesh and Blood TCG Sarawak representatives.

Peng Joon showcased his mastery of the game with his Fai deck, executing precise moves and making strategic decisions that ultimately led to his triumph and bringing back a one-of-a kind rare Flesh and Blood Cold Foil Jubilee, Spellbane card.

Meanwhile, owner of the Buddy Connection Jacob Wee said that TCG is quite similar to online gaming, but instead it requires the player to be physically available at the venue, and that is the beauty of the game.

“In today’s digital era, where most gaming enthusiasts connect online, the TCG stands out by fostering meaningful connections and social interactions among its players.

“Moreover, one of the remarkable aspects of gaming is its ability to transcend age barriers; as TCG welcomes participants from all walks of life, we even have players that are in their 40s and 50s.

“Furthermore, the rarity of the cards won by players adds to their value over time, comparable to collectible shoes. In fact, certain card packs can be worth as much as USD 300,000, making them highly sought-after by enthusiasts and collectors,” he said.

He added that the players with the highest ranks will have a chance to represent Malaysia at the international tournament held in Japan.
