MARUDI: Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil has extended a personal contribution of RM23,000 to the victims of a recent fire at the Niga Ngayong longhouse along the Nyiro River in Tinjar.
The blaze affected 46 doors of the longhouse and 330 people.
Several Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) also provided immediate assistance in the form of essential food supplies and mattresses to the fire victims.
Penguang recently took the opportunity to visit the affected longhouse where he also presented RM500 to each head of household affected by the fire..
Joining him during the visit were the Beluru District Officer and chairman of the Beluru District Disaster Management Committee Charles Aloysius Lisu, and the Administrative Officer of the Tinjar Small District Office Deo Keneth.
