OYA: Some 91 members of the Islamic Welfare Organisation Malaysia (Perkim) Dalat/Oya branch attended the 26th general meeting at a community hall here Saturday.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said that the meeting, themed ‘Islam Itu Persaudaraan’, would be a start to propose programmes and activities as well as the direction and vision of Perkim for 2020.

“We want Sarawak Perkim to become a high-performance non-governmental organisation (NGO), credible, and able to achieve its objectives which, among others, include welfare activities,” she added while officiating at the meeting.

The Dalat assemblywoman pointed out that in line with Perkim’s aspiration, three strategies were outlined, namely to strengthen relation with new converts, empower members according to their needs, and to carry out welfare activities.

In conducting the activities, Fatimah, who is also Dalat/Oya branch coordinator, urged Perkim to work together with strategic partners such as skuad kasih sayang (SKS+), Sarawak Islamic Department, Tabung Baitulmal, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and others.

At the event, she also approved a minor rural project (MRP) grant amounting to RM10,000 to assist Perkim Dalat/Oya branch in organising activities.

Oya sub-district administrative officer Zalina Sait, Perkim Dalat/Oya branch chairperson Fatimah Rambli, temenggong Hendi Suhai, penghulu Pawi Ramli and ustaz Yusof Lai also attended the event.
