BELAGA: Pesta Adet Tapok Penan is not only a platform to showcase the uniqueness of Penan culture and tradition, but also a field to strengthen friendship between communities.

Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon insisted that the preservation of this culture is important so that it is not lost over time and can be passed on to the younger generation.

“This festival is a symbol of appreciation for the heritage of our ancestors. I call for all of us to work together to promote and preserve this culture for future generations to see.”

Chukpai said this when officiating the Adet Tapok Penan 2024 Postponement Ceremony at Ruai Pengejaau Ume’, Lusong Laku, Ulu Sungai Linau, Belaga, on Sunday (Oct 6).

He also expressed his appreciation to all parties who made the Tapok Penan Adet Festival 2024 a success, especially the Tapok Penan Adet Festival Main Committee and the Belaga District Office for their cooperation.

“I am very grateful to Sarawak Energy Berhad who continue to commit to sponsor the Adet Tapok Penan Festival, as well as JKKK Lusong Laku under the leadership of PU Tingang Jati as the host of this year’s festival.”
