KAPIT: The highly-anticipated three-day Pesta Belaga will be kicking off today at Belaga River, said Kapit District Council (KDC) Assistant Secretary Kelimbik Sibat.
According to him, the official opening ceremony is slated to be performed by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas on Saturday morning.
“Uggah will touch down at Belaga at 10am where he will directly launch the earth-breaking ceremony for Belaga Waterfront Development Project (Phase 1 & 2) followed by handing over of the site to the appointed contractor.
“Later, he is expected to release empurau fries into Belaga River at Belaga Wharf, and he will proceed to the main stage to officiate the Pesta Belaga,” he said at a meeting on Wednesday, adding the Pesta Belaga will be held from September 28 to 30.
Upon completion, the RM4 million Belaga Waterfront Project will be a new landmark for Belaga district.
Also present were Belaga Waterfront Project consultant Rizaleslie Sdn Bhd, Belaga Waterfront Project contractor JVC Utama Sdn Bhd as well as Belaga District SAO Zain Rocky.
