BAU: The highly anticipated Pesta Tasik Biru 2024 is set to return this weekend from Oct 25 to 27, promising three days of cultural festivities and economic opportunities for the local community.
Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep said at a press conference at the Bau District Office today highlighted the economic benefits that the festival brings to the Bau district, saying it provides an essential boost to local businesses.
The festival, according to Jinep, is not just a celebration of culture but also a way to empower the local economy by providing business opportunities for small traders and entrepreneurs.
“We give opportunities to the local community to set up stalls, and in past years, this is where they make extra money.
“This year, the rental fees for booths have been reduced to encourage greater participation from local vendors and also accommodate the temporary venue change to the Lobuh Bau area, due to ongoing construction at the lake area.
“Hopefully, next year we will move back to the original site by the lake,” he said.
The festival will kick off on Friday with food and beverage stalls opening at 9 am and running until 11 pm. The local agricultural community will also have a strong presence, with exhibitions of farm products and produce organised by the Department of Agriculture.
A unique boat-building competition hosted by the Legacy Jong Club in Bau will be a highlight of the first day’s activities.
On Saturday, the festivities will continue with a morning poco-poco session at 7.30 am, encouraging residents and the public to participate in this popular group exercise. The event will serve as a warm-up for the Miss Tasik Biru finalists, who will take to the catwalk at 9 am.
The festival’s grand finale on Sunday will showcase the Miss Tasik Biru crowning ceremony, along with the official closing ceremony at 5.30 pm.
