KUCHING: The 16th Sri Santubong Open Petanque Doubles Tournament – Piala Landas PSPBK 2024 has once again drawn petanque enthusiasts from West Malaysia to the picturesque Kampung Santubong.

“This tournament is a yearly highlight for us,” said Mohamad Nuzul Azwan, a former national player from Dickson Petanque Club (DIPEC) to Sarawak Tribune at the Sarawak Petanque Centre in Kampung Santubong today (Nov 23).

“The scenic Sarawak Petanque Centre, located by the coastline, provides a unique setting for the game.”
Beyond the competition, Nuzul appreciated the cultural exchange offered by homestays.

“Here, we stay with host families, experiencing true Sarawakian hospitality.”
As for the tournament, Nuzul and his team are optimistic about their chances in the Men’s Open category.

Their focus, however, extends beyond the local competition.
“We’re gearing up for the Petanque World Championship in Dijon, France on Dec 5 until 8,” Nuzul said.
“Four of us were selected based on our performance in the recent International Open.”
