KUCHING: The Sarawak petanque squad delivered their fourth gold medal in the event after defeating the Perak team in the mixed doubles category yesterday (Aug20).
Representing Sarawak, Akhtar Shauqi Aini Mohd Dom and Nur Durratul Sahira Yazit beat Perak’s Mohamad Yusman Haizad Mohamad Yusof and Nur Zafirah Zafri 13-9.
Perak had to be satisfied with the silver in the category contested at Arena Petanque Santubong.
Sarawak’s success continued as Ain Afzan Aisyah Ezlan and Sharifah Daniamalyana Wan Deros secured a silver medal after facing Perak in the final of the women’s doubles category.
Perak were represented by Carmila Nahirah Mohd Noor and Nurshafinaz Mohd Nor Hishyam, who took home the silver.
Sarawak, coached by Mohamad Ahir Binar and Wan Deros Wan Badhi, continue their quest for more success in the six upcoming categories to be contested.
