MUKAH: Former teacher Peter Lai Sakol has been appointed as the new pemanca for Dalat District replacing the late Albert Kiroh Abau.
Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah presented the letter of appointment to Peter at a handover of grants ceremony in Oya, near here on Friday (June 19).
Mukah Division Temenggong Hendi Suhai in congratulating Peter looked forward to working with the latter.
“Being a former teacher, I believe he can do the job well,” he told reporters at Ukas@Community N57 Tellian ceremony here on Saturday (June 20), where Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Corporate Affairs and Sarawak Public Communications Unit) Abdullah Saidol was the guest of honour.
He was commenting on Peter who had been appointed as the new pemanca after the position was left void for over a year pending a new appointment.
Hendi hoped that the local community would cooperate and support Peter to enable the latter to perform his service effectively regardless of race, religion and culture.
Before promoted to a new position, Peter was a penghulu and also a former Dalat and Mukah District Council (MDDM) councillor. For the record, Hendi and the late Albert, who passed way in February 2019, were former teachers too.
