KUALA TERENGGANU: A total of 164 graduates managed to get jobs through the PETRONAS BeDigital Bootcamp that was introduced last year.
Petronas senior vice-president of Project Delivery and Technology, Datuk Bacho Pilong said a total of 365 participants had taken part in the five editions of the programme, which is aimed at increasing the marketability of graduates.
He said the first programme started with only 18 participants before the number was gradually increased in the following editions following the overwhelming response.
“Petronas BeDigital Bootcamp is an effort on our part to ensure local graduates can fulfil the demands of the digital era that is competitive out there.
“Participants will be exposed to appropriate digital and entrepreneurship skills to ensure they remain competitive and, thus, increase their employment marketability,” he said at the closing of the Petronas BeDigital Bootcamp 2023 East Coast edition here last night.
Bacho said 41 out of the 96 Petronas BeDigital Bootcamp 2023 East Coast edition had been offered jobs by Petronas Digital and several other strategic partner companies, including Ernst & Young (EY), Schlumberger Wta (M) Sdn Bhd, Malaysia Marine & Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd and Eastern Pacific Industrial Corporation Bhd (EPIC).
“We will continue to cooperate with government agencies and other industry players to unearth the talent of graduates who are dynamic,” he said.
Meanwhile, a programme participant, twenty-three-year-old Ahmad Akif Muhammad Izuan, who is also a graduate of Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), said the Petronas BeDigital Bootcamp not only helped equip graduates with new knowledge but also improved their self-confidence and communication skills.
He added that, more importantly, the programme was one of the best platforms for graduates to get job opportunities with various local and multinational companies.
“Alhamdulillah, I was offered a job as an Asset, Planning and Logistics Executive at Petronas Digital with a good starting salary.
“I hope this programme will continue to provide more opportunities to graduates looking for jobs,” said Ahmad Akif, who hails from Kuala Lumpur. – BERNAMA
