BINTULU: Petroleum Nasional (Petronas) yesterday (Saturday) donated RM583,800 worth of medical equipment to the Bintulu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (BDDMC).
The symbolic handover ceremony was officiated by the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Syarikat Malaysia LNG and Petronas LNG 9 Sdn Bhd, Mohamed Syazwan Abdullah @ Laga Jenggi. On hand to receive the donation was BDDMC chairman and Bintulu Resident Datuk Jack Aman Luat.
In his speech, Laga hoped that the donation under the Petronas Covid-19 Caring Programme could help in treating Covid-19 patients in Bintulu.
He said Petronas also supported the state government in carrying out the national Immunisation programme by establishing vaccination centres (PPVs) for the oil and gas industry in Bintulu and Miri recently.
“More than 7,000 oil and gas workers in Sarawak were vaccinated under the programme,” he said.
Laga also expressed his appreciation to all the frontliners including the media and BDDMC staff who had sacrificed their time and energy in dealing with Covid-19 since March 2020.
