KUCHING: The PETRONAS Muslim Staff Welfare Association (BAKIP) will be contributing zakat (tithe) totaling RM114,600 which enables it to be distributed to 548 under privileged recipients this year.
Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni distributed part of the tithe to 219 individuals from Demak Laut yesterday during the ‘Petronas Iftar Perdana’ event at Penview Convention Centre (PCC) Demak here.
Speaking at the event, PETRONAS Sarawak general manager Zulaihi Mantali said BAKIP will also distribute tithe to the needy group in Samarahan, Bintulu and Miri.
“This initiative reflects BAKIP’s unwavering commitment to alleviating the burdens of those in need, particularly during this sacred month of Ramadan,” he said.

Meanwhile, recipients from the Satok area received their tithe from Satok assemblyman, Datuk Ibrahim Baki at the Toh Puan Hajjah Dayang Masniah hall this afternoon.
