MIRI: 12 officers from four agencies recently visited five Penan villages and one Kelabit school within the Baram area during an outreach and fire point programme by Petronas.

The villages visited were Long Latei, Long Kevok, Long Kawa, Long Ludin, Long Selulong, and the school visited was SK Long Seridan. Nearly 400 were present during the three-day programme which was held from October 23 to 25.

The objective of the programme was to create and increase awareness on fire safety; as well as to instil in them the knowledge of what to do should a fire occur.

Six fire extinguishers were presented to Long Kawa village by Marudi Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), represented by its Chief, Maureen Sim.
