MIRI: A total of 180 students from 16 secondary schools participated in the  Discover Petronas @ Schools (DPS TVET) programme here.

This initiative, designed to encourage technical and vocational education (TVET), aligns with Sarawak’s ambitious goals of industrial growth and a skilled workforce, according to Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah.

The event was held on Wednesday at the Miri Industrial Training Institute (ILP Miri).

Sagah, represented at the event by his deputy, Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, stressed the programme’s importance for students aspiring for careers in energy and technical fields.

“This initiative exemplifies our commitment to developing talent and preparing our youth to make meaningful contributions to Sarawak’s growth and development in the energy sector and beyond,” Sagah remarked, urging students to engage fully with the unique opportunities provided by the DPS TVET programme.

The DPS TVET programme provided students with a hands-on experience, featuring sessions led by industry professionals who will share insights into various technical career paths within the energy sector.
