KUCHING: Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) recently joined the state level MYFuture Jobs Career Carnival Programme to attract more Sarawakian youths to work in the oil and gas sector.
A statement issued by PETRONAS recently, revealed that five PETRONAS contractors comprising Velesto Energy Berhad, Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE), Petrotechnical Inspection Sdn Bhd, Poratha Corporation, and Essem Corporation Sdn Bhd participated in the event which drew more than 1,000 job seekers.
The carnival was held at Bintulu Civics Centre from May 18 to 19, 2024 with the theme “Tiada Yang Terpinggir”(no one is left out).
The event, held in collaboration with PERKESO and Sarawak Labour Department, is part of PETRONAS’ Group Project Delivery (GPD), Project Delivery and Technology (PD&T) initiatives under its Project Resource Localisation in support of the Sarawak government’s efforts to boost local talent participation in the oil and gas sector especially in PETRONAS capital projects.
“PETRONAS participation in the programme provides a platform for local job seekers to connect with potential employers in the industry and fosters stronger collaboration within the ecosystem, ensuring continuous integrated efforts to achieve local talent development goals and to support the Sarawak Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030.
“The collaboration with the Sarawak government and leading industry partners demonstrates PETRONAS’ unwavering commitment to nurturing local talent,” the press statement read.
The statement then added that this initiative was a key element of PETRONAS project delivery strategy to support Sarawak’s economic growth through the development of a skilled and competent workforce.
