MIRI: In celebrating the festive spirit of gratitude and joy, Petronas Dagangan Berhad yesterday hosted 55 orphans under the care of Sarawak Orphans Welfare Association (Peryatim) at a Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri feast held at the Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel here.

The children were each treated to a sumptuous meal and a goodie bag containing stationeries and snacks, as well as ‘duit raya’.

PDB also made a monetary contribution to the orphanage, Hamidah Yakub Welfare Complex.

Commenting on the initiative, PDB’s managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Syed Zainal Abidin Syed M Tahir said it was aimed at fostering closer relationship with the community.

“Every year, we try to give back to those in need through meaningful get-together such as this one.

“This is on top of the other CSR programmes that we have in place nationwide, such as the Coffee Break campaign, StreetSmart and Water For Life,” he said.

In thanking Petronas for their contribution, Peryatim’s Children Affairs officer Mohd Hisyam Mat said, “We really appreciate the assistance and contributions given by Petronas as this would certainly help ease our expenses especially during this festive season.”
