SIBU: Kelab Belia Rumpun Pewaris (Pewaris) is not only a platform for youth here to gather and share their opinions but can also be an early route to entering the world of politics.
According to Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, Pewaris and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu’s (PBB) new wing for youth called PBB 1828 is a platform for youth to voice out their struggles, concerns and opinions.
“When I proposed the establishment of Pewaris, it was solely to gather the youth, because half of them may not want to be directly involved in politics. They just want to be updated on the political situation in our country.
“But there are also those who want to get involved directly or earlier in politics. So, I want to combine (through activities) these two groups (Pewaris and PBB 1828) so that they can come together and explain or express what are the youth inspirations in Sibu,” he said.
He said this at a Majlis Ramah Mesra Aidilfitri 1444H with Kelab Belia Rumpun Pewaris which was attended by 611 youth in a hotel here yesterday (April 28).
The Nangka assemblyman said he is very supportive of whatever activities and programmes organised by Pewaris.
“I believe that it is important for us to work together with the youth for the future of our state.
“Thus, as long as I am given the mandate to be the people’s representative, I will emphasise human development as well as the importance of youth development to nurture their leadership,” he said.
Dr Annuar called on youth who want to be involved directly in politics to join the PBB 1828 and as for those who are not ready but want to keep updated on the political situation as well as be involved in youth activity, to join Pewaris.
“I call on the youth to register as Pewaris members or both so that I can be with them and continue our struggle as well as nurture leadership among the youth for the future,” he said.
