BINTULU: The Pakatan Harapan (PH) government had the chance to serve the people, but failed, said Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai.

Thus, the Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) reminded the people not to be deceived by the opposition’s sweet promises, pointing out they should know PH better after the coalition’s failed stint in power.

“They are only good at making promises, but do not intend to execute and keep the promises. The sweet promises are just to attract voters.

“Before the last 14th general election, PH gave many promises.

“However, after being given the opportunity to rule for 22 months, many promises were not fulfilled, and now they are complaining,” Sikie said during thanksgiving dinner and pre-Christmas celebration at Dinner World Restaurant here in Bintulu recently.

Sikie said he could not see any significant change brought to Selangau area during PH administration.

“When PH ruled the government, the Selangau MP who became a full minister in the cabinet back has yet to bring any development project in this area.

“For example, the water supply plant project in Sengan worth RM200 million that was approved by the Barisan Nasional government was not implemented at all.

“It is the biggest loss for this area,” he added.

Despite the gloomy days during the PH reign, Sikie said the Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari had been working hard to fight for Sarawak rights.

Pointing out that the state government has implemented various initiatives to assist and develop rural areas through minor rural project (MRP), rural transformation project (RTP), Agriculture Facilitation Fund and Sarawak Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares), he hailed Abang Johari for his wisdom in finding ways to generate more income and revenue.

“Abang Jo is indeed the leader of all Sarawakians. He has always worked hard in implementing various initiatives for the benefit of the people.

“His wisdom as a leader is reflected by the significant development projects that have been implemented in Sarawak, especially in Kakus area. We have benefited so much from the implementation of solar-powered electricity supply projects,” Sikie said.
