KUCHING: Just like Barisan Nasional (BN), the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government has failed to honour the Borneonisation policy whereby all high positions in the federal department and agencies in the state were supposed to be given to Sarawakians.
Secretary of the MA63 Monitor, a sub-committee in Sarawak Peoples Aspiration Association (Sapa), Alim Mideh said PH government is worse than BN, pointing out that only very few Sarawakians hold ministerial posts in the federal cabinet.
“So much has been discussed about equal partnership, but just look at the federal cabinet line-up.
“Only Baru Bian holds a full minister post as Minister of Works while Chong Chieng Jen is Deputy Minister for Domestic Trade and Consumers’ Affair, far lesser than during BN’s regime.
Alim added all positions should be equally divided between Malaya, Sabah and Sarawak.
“Pakatan Harapan has failed to deliver the 20 per cent oil royalty as promised,” added Alim.
He further added that the PH government tried to cheat Sarawak and Sabah by introducing an amendment which PH claimed to reinstate some of the eroded rights of the two states.
Alim also alleged that PH government is rude and inconsiderate when the federal government is also organising a national-level Gawai celebration in Bintulu.
He said PH should work together with Sarawak government to organise the event instead of being a competitor.
“After all, the Sarawak government via the Dayak Bidayuh Association (DBNA) is also organising a state-level Gawai celebration,” he said.
Alim suggested that PH government should approve the upgrading of Sarawak Native Court to be on par with the Syariah and Civil courta, to hear land and other issues related to the Dayak.
On the case of ICERD, he said it seems to imply that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad can be dictated by hooligans instead of logic.
Hence, he said this has shown that PH government has failed to bring changes as promised.
