KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) has called upon Sarawakians to not let Pakatan Harapan (PH) take over in the 12th state election, or else the fight will no longer be ‘Sarawak for Sarawakians’ but ‘Sarawak for Malayans’.

Its president Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian warned that if PH comes into power in the coming state election, the state’s rights to oil and immigration will be taken away.

“It is time we Sarawakians fight for Sarawak. If Sarawakians don’t care for Sarawak, there will be no more Sarawak sharing prosperity with its people, but Malaya sharing Sarawak’s prosperity instead,” he said.

Dr Sim said this when declaring open SUPP’s Annual Delegates Conference 2019 at the party’s headquarters here yesterday.

He said for 56 years Sarawak has suffered enough and now that the state government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is not affiliated to any Malayan party, it is free to make any decision that is good for Sarawak.

“We have learnt from our past experience and now that we are free we must fight for what is best for the people. It is now or never,” he stressed.

He said the PH-led government will continue to spilt the people in Sarawak, and one of their strategies was the setting up of the federal Village Community Management Council (MPKKP).

“They will continue to harass us. They are suppressing us, be it from MACC (Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission), the income tax (Inland Revenue Board), or MCMC (Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission).

“They are even spying on our cell phones.  And I suspect my phone is always being bugged… I suspect lah,” he said.

Dr Sim called on SUPP central committee (CC) members to fully use technology to spread development initiatives or programmes of GPS.

“We have to use a new approach to reach out to the people using technology (cell phone). Traditionally, we go on the ground, provide a lot development, but that is not enough in today’s environment.

“But remember also, a cell phone can be a weapon of harassment by the PH central government against us,” he pointed out.

He told party members to remain united and be proud of the party.

“So, don’t tengok sahaja (see only), we must have that spirit of Agi Idup Agi Ngelaban (fight until death). Wear our yellow shirt (SUPP’s official colour) and show them (PH) we are ready to fight them in the coming election.”
