KUCHING: State Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) has come out with its own list of potential candidates to fill up positions in the soon-to-be-formed Village Community Development Council (MPKK).
Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP), it is learnt, has also come out with its own list of candidates.
The list of potential candidates from both parties went viral on social media yesterday, giving a strong signal that PH members were jostling for positions in the proposed MPKK.
Netizens did not waste time in sharing the lists through various social media platforms including WhatsApp.
Based on the PKR list, the party has put up names for all the 82 state seats. The names were divided into two batches, given the implementation of the MPKK will be carried out in two batches — the first in November and the second one in January next year.
The federal government will proceed with the implementation of the MPKK in Sarawak effective next year despite strong objection from the state government.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said Sarawak would not endorse the proposed MPKK as it infringed the state’s constitutional rights.
