KUCHING: Sarawak is among the three states which will move into Phase Three of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) from August 4.
Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the other two states were Perlis and Labuan.
“I am pleased to announce that the three states have shown very good performance and will move into Phase Three of the NPR effective Wednesday, Aug 4,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (Aug 2).
While congratulating the three states, the prime minister reminded them that the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and rules set must be adhered to at all times to improve the pandemic situation.
“I hope with the cooperation of all parties across the country, more states will be able to move to the next phase of the NRP.
“We must be optimistic and continue to move forward so that the country’s recovery can be carried out more systematically and safely,” he said.
Earlier on, Muhyiddin chaired the National Security Council (NSC) Special Session meeting to detail the facilities for those who had completed two doses of the vaccine jab as well as discuss the facilities that would be enjoyed by the economic sector.
“This matter needs to be refined carefully to ensure that the government’s effort to restore the economy and quality of life of the people can be implemented smoothly and effectively.
“God willing, I will announce these facilities in the near future and hopefully, they can benefit those who have completed the vaccination and also help our economic sector by taking into account the safety of the people,” he said.
Muhyiddin emphasised that the government’s strategy was to provide vaccinations to as many adults as possible in the country to ensure that the country’s recovery plan could be carried out smoothly.
“If more people are vaccinated, more people are protected and there will be less stress and burden on the national health system. More economic and social sectors that can be opened safely,” he said.
Meanwhile, Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Aziz presented the latest developments of the NRP.
For the record, Sarawak entered Phase Two of the NRP on July 14.
