BINTULU: Phase One of Rumah Sri Pertiwi Taman Sri Indah project in Kidurong has been successfully completed  despite facing various construction challenges.

“First, the COVID-19 pandemic and the movement control order (MCO) caused significant delays.

“Secondly, construction costs  jumped by 30%, and continued to rise,” said director of Dayabaru Sdn Bhd, Daniel Ting Beng Yee.

“Despite facing these formidable obstacles, we are proud to announce that we have successfully completed Phase 1 which covered 107 units,” he said when speaking at a ceremony to hand over  keys to the house owners which was officiated by  Deputy Premier Datuk Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian here  on Thursday.

Ting added that his company aimed to complete the construction of Phases 2A and 2B which covered199 units in 2024 and Phase Three and the SPEKTRA medium units in 2025.

He said there were still many B40 and M40 income groups looking for their first homes.

“Therefore, we encourage more developers to participate in this housing project to deal with related issues,” he said.

At the same time, he requested the help of the Sarawak government to review the prices and make them  affordable for the targeted groups.

“Basically, this project  started as a partnership driven by a shared vision to address the need for affordable housing,” Ting explained, adding that the initial plan was to build  402 units,

“However, due to changing circumstances, we had to reduce the number to 399 units and we are grateful to Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg who launched this project in 2020,” he said.

Also present were Tanjong Batu  assemblyman Johnny Pang, Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) deputy chairman Dato Haidar Khan Asghar Khan, Bintulu   Resident Nyurak Keti and Johabaru Reality Sdn Bhd’s managing director William Ting.
