MIRI: The Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) is organising the ‘Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri Celebration Photography Competition 2022’.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew said the objective of the photography competition was to promote the Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri atmosphere in Miri during this COVID-19 pandemic through social media platforms.

He hoped the initiative by NSJA could help boost Miri’s tourism by promoting Miri City as a resort city.

“The theme of this competition is Miri Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri. The topics include architecture, cultural customs, and natural landscapes to present the festive atmosphere of the celebration as well as to showcase Sarawak’s multi-ethnic, cultural, and religious festival.

“As we celebrate the festival, we can take pictures of the surrounding scenery of Miri City with a festive theme. This can help promote interesting places and participants can play their role in promoting Miri as a tourist city,” he said on Wednesday (April 20).

The date for submission by email is from April 16 to May 16. After the closing date, the organiser will upload the submitted photos to the ‘NSJA Miri’ official Facebook page for the public and judges to vote.

Ting congratulated and thanked the NSJA for their social responsibility programme.

“I fully support this competition as it is in an effort to introduce and promote Miri City as a tourist city,” he said.

The competition is sponsored by Ting as the main sponsor with cosponsors Shun Shen Lee Trading (Miri) Sdn Bhd and Siti Payung.
