KUCHING: The Kuching Hockien Association’s (KHA) photography contest concluded with great success, showcasing the talent and creativity of photographers from across the region.
With close to 550 entries received, the competition highlighted the dedication and skill of participants who aimed to capture the essence of cultural heritage.
Sarawak Federation of Chinese Associations (SFCA) president Datuk Richard Wee Liang Chiat said in recognition of the photographers’ artistic achievements, the committee plans to archive all the submitted photos and organise a series of exhibitions and promotional activities.
“This initiative aims to ensure the long-lasting preservation and appreciation of these remarkable works of art.
“The success of the photography competition not only celebrated the talents of photographers but also fostered cultural appreciation and heritage conservation,” Wee said.
Delivering his speech at the prize giving ceremony held at the Barong Timuk Restaurant yesterday, he said the event provided a platform for participants to showcase their skills and creativity, while promoting the rich traditions of Kuching and Sarawak.
Looking ahead, the association aspires to attract international photographers for next year’s competition, further enriching the event’s global reach and fostering cross-cultural exchange.
