MIRI: The Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Piasau Service Centre, under the leadership of chairman cum Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting Chiew Yew, will organise a two-day registration drive for the Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) and Senior Citizen Health Benefit (SCHB) application.

The drive will take place at three venues over two days – September 14: Old Man Street from 8am to 12pm, and Imperial Mall Miri (Ground Floor, in front of KFC) from 4pm to 9pm.

On Sept 15, it will be at Imperial Mall Miri (Ground Floor, in front of KFC) from 11am to 9pm (continuous service).

Senior citizens aged 60 and above are encouraged to attend, as they can apply for the KGC and, upon approval, immediately receive the card on-site.

Welfare Department officers will be present to assist KGC holders in applying for the SCHB scheme if they are eligible but have not yet registered.

To qualify for the KGC, applicants must: be Malaysian citizens holding a Sarawak MyKad with ‘K’ status ; be permanent residents of Sarawak and aged 60 years and above.

Applicants must bring a copy of their MyKad (front and back), along with a copy of their next of kin’s MyKad for registration.

On the SCHB scheme, introduced by the Sarawak government, it provides cashless outpatient treatment at registered panel clinics with an annual limit of RM500 per person.

To be eligible for SCHB, applicants must meet the following criteria: Malaysian citizens with a MyKad bearing the ‘K’ status ; aged 60 years or older; household income of RM7,000 or less per month and not receiving outpatient treatment coverage from other agencies.

SCHB beneficiaries have been selected in Phase 1 based on specific criteria from existing welfare client lists and eKasih profiles.

Phase 2 will allow for open online registration, with eligibility checks available via the relevant online portals.

Ting noted the importance of senior citizens taking advantage of this convenient opportunity to secure the benefits and assistance available to them.

He reiterated his commitment to improving welfare services for seniors in Miri and the surrounding areas.
