KUCHING: Good news for parents whose eligible children have yet to receive their their COVID-19 vaccination under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids).

The deadline for the vaccination has been extended to May 31.

“Please note that the deadline for the first dose of two-dose COVID-19 vaccine for children aged five to 11 through PICKids which was scheduled to end on May 15 has been extended until May 31,” Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said on his Telegram Channel yesterday (May 13).

Sarawak rolled out its PICKids on Feb 7, which first involved children in school or preschool, namely those aged five to 11 years.

Meanwhile, for kindergarten children, vaccination for them started in March.

On another note, Dr Sim, who is also the Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, said all seniors aged 60 and above as well as adolescents and adults with chronic illnesses could opt for a second booster after four to six months of their first booster dose.
