SIBU: The Sibu Pickleball Closed Invitation which was organised by the Dudong Pickleball Club (DPC) held at MyCentre Pickleball Court here displayed the best of local pickleball talents.
With 24 teams and 48 players participating, the event highlighted both the skills and passion for pickleball popularity in Sibu, drawing an enthusiastic crowd of supporters and sports fans.
The tournament’s opening ceremony was officiated by Stanley Chew, Private Secretary to Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker, on behalf of Alice Lau Kiong Yieng the Lanang Member of Parliament.
In his speech, Chew praised DPC’s dedication in organising the event and fostering a vibrant pickleball community in Sibu.
The event was generously sponsored by Henry Tiong, owner of Ah Kiat Restaurant, who supported the strong community ties through the sportmanship of the people of Sibu.
With a strong lineup of players and teams, Arne Arsah who partnered with Shahrizan Sharif emerged as champions, displaying skillful teamwork and impressive game strategy.
Jessica Lau with Terrence Ting earned the first runner-up position, while Tie Sing Wong and Jacqualine Kong took the second runner-up spot.
Menawhile, Joseph Sia and Patrick Lasin secured the third runner-up position.
Organisers were thrilled with the success of this year’s tournament and the community’s enthusiastic response, as the event strengthen the bond among pickleball enthusiasts and encourage the spirit of sportsmanship.
DPC extended its gratitude to all players, supporters, and sponsors, especially Henry Tiong, for helping make the event a memorable one.
The event closed on a high note, with players and fans eagerly await an exciting competition next year as pickleball’s popularity continues to rise.
