BAU: Some 25 pig carcasses were found piled on a farm road leading to a rubber garden along Jalan Jambusan-Semadang, about five kilometres from Bau town.

New Sarawak Tribune visited the site yesterday and saw the pile of these pig carcasses already smelled bad and is believed to have been dumped there a few days ago by an irresponsible person.

However, until this afternoon no action has been taken to remove the pig carcasses. Kampung Skio (nearby village) village head Michael Dang, made a police report regarding the matter, but until this afternoon no action has been taken to remove the pig carcasses.

Michael when contacted said he made the police report on Wednesday. In his report Michael stated that on October 12, at around 2pm, he received a photo via the Rawang Skio (Kampung Skio Families) WhatsApp group regarding the disposal of the carcasses of approximately 25 dead pigs that were dumped in a bush area (rubber garden) along Jalan Jambusan-Semadang, Bau, and upon receiving the photo he went to lodge a police report at Bau Poilice Station.

He said, as the village head of Kampung Skio, he was not happy with the actions of the irresponsible party in disposing of the pig carcasses at the place and feared that infectious diseases would spread as well as causing environmental pollution.

Accordingly, he said he made the police report for reference and asked the Department of Environment and the Sarawak Veterinary Services Department to act to dispose the pig carcasses Michael, however, regretted that until this afternoon, officials from the Sarawak Veterinary Services Department had not contacted him.

In fact, he said the police officers at the Bau Police Station were also waiting for officers from the Sarawak Veterinary Services Department to meet him and together go to the location where the pig carcass was piled up.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Veterinary Services Department director Dr Adrian Susin Ambud in his WhatsApp message stated that staff from the department had held discussions with the Bau District Department and the Bau District Council to help them to remove the carcass.
