MIRI: A pillion rider was killed after a vegetable-laden lorry rammed onto a motorcycle Tuesday night.
The 7.40pm accident occurred at KM11 Miri By-pass.
According to Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, the 26-year-old pillion rider died on the spot.
“The collision occurred when the lorry, which was coming from the airport area and heading towards Permyjaya, suddenly made a turn to enter a junction on its right side,” he said, adding it crashed head-on against the motorcycle which was coming from the opposite direction.
The body of the pillion rider was taken to Miri hospital morgue.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
