KUCHING: Sarawak Energy has met up with Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin to brief him on the temporary closure of its pilot Hydrogen Production Plant & Refueling Station (HPPRS).
During the meeting, Sarawak Energy chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili confirmed that the problem arose following detection of contaminant liquid during the plant’s performance test.
This has resulted in a temporary closure of the facility.
Sharbini, however, said a team of experts from Linde is working closely with Sarawak Energy to address the issue. Linde EOX Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Linde Group (a German based company), is the technology partner and system integrator for the pilot project.
The performance test is a robust process that provides for checks to be conducted to ensure that matters detected are fixed during the warranty period, and also to resolve any teething issues which are not
uncommon for research and evelopment projects.
The facility, announced by the chief minister as a research and development (R&D) project in Nov 2017, is still under warranty by Linde.
