KUCHING: Persatuan Karyawan Sarawak (Pekasa) will not give up on its effort to promote Sarawak’s literary work in developing its creative industry.

With the tabling of the state Budget 2020 just around the corner, its president Jaafar Hamdan said he was optimistic the state government would not leave art literacy out.

“The state government has been very supportive of efforts to develop art literacy,” he told New Sarawak Tribune when contacted yesterday.

Pinning some hope on the state Budget 2020, he wished the budget would be helpful towards efforts to expand art literacy programmes.

“We hope that the budget would help enhance our art literacy and production of arts pieces as well as their promotion internationally,” he said.

On Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, he described him as charismatic. As such, he believed that the state government would continue to develop a civic-minded society.
