MUKAH: Parti KeAdilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak lauded the announcement of huge allocation for the development of the state by the state government recently.
State PKR Deputy Chairman, Abdul Jalil Bujang, hoped that budget would be wisely and transparently spent meant for the prosperity of the people and state.
“The spending must be transparent and with a detail especially on the projects and it cost and course must be implemented based on priority. And all the projects proposed must be done in an open tender approach so that it would get the best offer from the related contractors,” he said.
Jalil pointed out that they do not want a similar thing that happened during the previous regime whereby the projects only benefited the cronies especially on term of the appointment of contractors.
“The trustworthy, responsibility and accountability in the usage of the fund allocated should be embraced by every government. This public fund should not be made as `gula-gula (sweets) and eventually makes the rakyat as the ransom as an effort to retain the existing leadership,” he said.
He reiterated that it was so because Gabungan Party Sarawak (GPS) had realised the decrease in terms of support from the people towards the GPS government.
He was responding to the recent announcement made by the Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Open regarding an allocation of RM11 billon to be put aside for constructing coastal roads, bridges and for water and electricity supply for the state.
