KUCHING: Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Public Complaints Bureau (PCB) chief cum Kota Sentosa branch chairman Wilfred Yap hopes that Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and Democratic Action Party (DAP) politicians would place the needs of the people first, instead of politicking through misinformation using the media.

He emphasised that the topmost priority should be to have the people’s problems resolved and settled.

“I hope that DAP and PSB will also put people over politics by resolving their predicaments, especially during this period of conditional movement control order (CMCO) due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said in a joint statement by SUPP PCB and SUPP Kota Sentosa branch today.

The statement pointed out that there had been numerous unsubstantiated provocative and political statements on various unproductive/speculative issues from PSB and DAP due to the Sarawak State Elections likely to be held within a year’s time.

“Regardless of the politicking from PSB and DAP during this Covid-19 pandemic, SUPP Kota Sentosa branch and SUPP PCB continue to be focused and fully committed in serving the rakyat by being their eyes and ears, and shall continue to speak out on basic human rights and other matters of good governance in accordance with the rule of law by using the proper channels,” they said.

Yap, during his regular ‘turun padang’ with local community leaders to the 7th Mile area, is frequently approached by residents and the business community for assistance to request the local council to carry out improvement and repair works to damaged drains and roads.

Following such requests for assistance, the problems are always immediately communicated to the relevant authorities for their immediate action.

Anyone requiring assistance can call SUPP PCB at 016-7797688 or 082-246999, or directly visit SUPP Head Office.
