KUCHING: Sarawak-based company Global Resources Management (GRM) Digital Solutions Sdn Bhd is planning to establish advanced artificial intelligence (AI) data centres here.

GRM Sdn Bhd and GRM Digital Solutions Sdn Bhd executive director Sylvester Wong said that these centres would cater to powerful AI servers built to handle large tasks.

“At the heart of these AI centres is our commitment to green energy,” Wong said during the Digital Transformation Through Accelerated Application seminar at Pullman Hotel today (Sept 19).

Additionally, Wong said the company’s plan to lay two underwater fibre optic cables to connect Malaysia, Singapore, and Indonesia.

“Underwater fibre cables offer the most reliable digital connectivity at present,” he added.

Emphasising their commitment to sustainability, Wong said they are exploring options in renewable energy sources like solar farms and hydro power.

By the end of 2024, he expects the completion of the Subsea Fiber Optic cable (SEA-H2X). This would link Sarawak to two major internet hubs: Singapore and Hong Kong.
