MATU: More Rumah Spektra Permata houses will be built under the Village Expansion Scheme (SPK) in the Igan constituency to meet the needs of residents in the area.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said it was prudent to so as there has been a demand for such accommodation.
“At the trial phase, we built 20 units of houses, however, the effort led to a demand for an increase in such housing units.
“Therefore, we will add more lots, either 100 or 80 units in the future, we will see the situation first,” he told the media after officiating at the closing of Pesta Matu 2022 on Wednesday.
On the construction of the Kampung Kuala Matu Mosque, Abang Johari said he had instructed the Planning Unit of the Land and Survey Department to review the master plan of the project.
“There are several aspects which need to be considered because the mosque is located near the village.
“If there are roads and mosques, we will probably expand the village for the benefit of future generations with a new SPK area and others,” he said.
In a related development, he expressed satisfaction with the implementation of various people’s projects implemented in the Matu district despite being slightly delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
According to him, the Sarawak Government remains committed to implementing these for the benefit of the people.
“Regarding the proposal to build Anjung Usahawan in the old district office building, I observe that the building is not very suitable for that purpose. We will review the proposal, whether to renovate the building, demolish it or build a new building with a more suitable design, ”he said.
